Car Seat Safety

Having a child is a major responsibility. One of the first items you need to have before you can bring your baby home from the hospital is a car seat. We understand that it may be a difficult task to install with the variety of car models available.

The San Pablo Police Department has recently entered the Contra Costa County Car Seat Safety Coalition. Our car seat technicians are certified through Safe Kids USA. Our goal is to help parents and caregivers gain the knowledge and confidence to properly install their car seats themselves.

San Pablo Police Department will have an annual car seat checking station during Public Safety Day, typically held the last Saturday in June. We will also establish car seat checking stations at various community events throughout the year. Please visit the Contra Costa County Car Seat Safety Coalition website for additional car seat checking dates, times and locations.

Parents and caregivers are asked to arrive at check-ups with their car seat installed and if possible, to bring your car seat's instructions. Having the child present is best. However, if this is not possible, we are still able to check your car seat's installation.
