School and Community Resources Officer
Officer Palmieri's most important charge is conducting the G.R.I.P. Program, formerly known as the P.I.S.T.O.L. Program, for K-6 elementary school students. The Program was initiated over twelve years ago and became a part of the Department through grant funding and private donation fundraising through former City Councilmember, Sharon Brown. The program includes regular presentations about citizenship, responsiblity, avoiding gangs and drugs, and common sense advice about not becoming a victim of abuse or molestation. The Program hosts an annual recognition dinner supported by the Department and City Council to recognize outstanding students, teachers and parents who have participated in or supported the Program. The School and Community Resource Officers Kathryn Casalnuovo and Kelli Richer are responsible for the in-school G.R.I.P. (Gang Reduction and Intervention Program), the Community Crime Prevention Program and the Business Crime Prevention Program.
