Ride-A-Long

To increase increase understanding and to foster cooperation between the public and the police department, we encourage citizens to take advantage of our Ride-A-Long Program. There may be risk involved and those desiring to ride are required to sign a conditonal waiver.

Participants in the program must be eighteen years of age or older and anyone may be excluded at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Ride-A-Longs are limited to one patrol shift per thirty day period. Appropriate dress is required and it is recommended that you layer your clothing due to sudden temperature changes.

All requests to ride must be in writing and approved by the Chief of Police. Forms may be obtained from Records or by contacting the on duty Watch Commander. Upon approval of your request you will be contacted by phone to arrange an appointment to ride. If you are currently a police officer considering employement with our Department contact the Watch Commander directly at (510) 215-3171 and leave a recorded message.
